TROOP 149

Troop 149's NEWEST! Eagles 2010.

It is always a  special occasion for Boy Scout Troop 149  when we celebrate the induction of our young men into the Eagle Scout Court of Honor.
The journey to Eagle Scout is a long and difficult one, yet it is an  enjoyable one. It started years ago as 'Tiger Cubs' and later on as 'Cub Scouts'.
Upon joining the troop, they  advanced and held positions of responsibility. This rank is not easily attained and that is why is so special.

Remember, No one ever says 'I was an Eagle Scout'.  Because once a young man becomes an Eagle Scout, he is forever an Eagle Scout.

Eagle Scout Brandon Kinsey earned the rank of Eagle Scout on April 2010. Brandon has been part of troop 149 since 2003 and held several offices during his time as a scout of Troop 149.  Brandon has participated with the troop in many outings, being the most special our trip to Italy.  For his Eagle Service Project, Brandon reconstructed a set of steps that lead to an open field at the First West Chester Fire Company. This field is used by the fire house as a training station and also as a relaxing area for the members and their families to enjoy. However, due to the decay of the existing steps, the field had not been used for a while, limiting the company's ability to train and enjoy a lazy summer afternoon. Brandon will be a Senior in 2010-2011 and plans to attend a school for higher education and major in Business Management, in the fall of 2011.
Congratulations to Brandon, his parents and all the adults,  scouters and not, that helped him achieve this coveted rank!
On Wednesday May 19, 2010 the Eagle Board of Review awarded T. Alex Amodei the rank of Eagle Scout. Alex joined Troop 149 upon receiving his Arrow of Light. He participated in numerous activities with the troop and held several offices including Senior Patrol Leader, for which he was a perfectly suited individual due to his determination and leadership.
Alexander is a 2010 Senior class at Rustin High School and plans to continue his higher education in film and cinematography in New York City, a career that will eventually take him to his passion: Surfing in California. Alex's service project included the repainting of St. Simon and Jude and the removing of brush and landscaping of the new entrance to the church.Congratulations to Alex, his parents and  the adults that helped him achieve this coveted rank!

EAGLE SCOUT john luke mcgeehan

On Wednesday July 14, 2010 the Eagle Board of review awarded John Luke the rank he had earned! John is now and forever an EAGLE SCOUT!

HIS PROJECT

For his Eagle Service Project, John Luke  planned and built a recreational climbing structure for the disabilities summer camp which is hosted by the Church of the Loving Shepherd.  This structure will allow kids with some physical and/or mental disabilities to enjoy the outdoors and get some physical exercise while outdoors. They can climb on one side by means of ‘climbing stones’ like those used by professional outfits and then walk down the other end.  It took him, and his fellow scouts, 262 hours to complete this project.

HIS SCOUTING CAREER

Several offices: Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.  Member of OA,  Octararo Lodge.  Order of the Arrow. Earned several special awards:  Red Trail, Toten Chip, Trailblazers, Snorkeling BSA and Yellow Trail. John participated in numerous outings and troop engagements remembering Beach Jam in Wildwood, NJ as one of the most memorable ones in the company of John Messersmith, Alex Amodei and Dylan Nalbandian, other recent Eagle scouts of our troop.

An Eagle Court of Honor is planned in his honor for Early September.

HIS FUTURE PLANS

Upon graduation and Eagle would like to continue higher education in the Veterinary field as I love helping animals that can’t help themselves.  I would like to, also, volunteer to the US Army and become a close combat instructor. I would like to achieve financial stability without exaggeration. I don’t need great big houses or fancy cars. After a while I’d like to settle down and have children. Travel will be in my future if I can afford it. I would like to move to Wyoming and settle in a nice piece of land with animals, grasslands and shimmering lakes.

Congratulations to John, his parents and leaders! We wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors and ask of you to remember your troop!
