On September 7th, 2017, Troop 149’s Eagle Board of Review approved Eagle candidate Thomas Walker Robertson’s application for the rank of Eagle becoming the 123rd Scout that has earned the rank of Eagle with the troop.

A native of Valley Forge, PA Walker he resides, with his parents John and Michelle and his brother Coleman, in Concordville, PA Delaware County where he is a Senior at Garnet Valley High School. Walker participates in several school sponsored clubs. Walker is also an avid soccer player. He plans to attend college in the fall majoring in Business.

Since Walker joined the troop, he has accompanied us in many trips and outings and earned 22 merit badges. He also held several scouting offices including that of Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.

For his Eagle Service project, Walker designed, and led the building of large picnic table with handicapped access for the Newlin Grist Mill in Glen Mills. He also led the effort to repair several other picnic tables, scattered around the park, which had fallen in disrepair.

Best of luck to Walker in all of his future endeavors and we congratulate his parents, siblings, family and leaders who helped Walker reach this milestone.

EvanBurkeOn Tuesday, December 22, 2015, Troop 149’s Eagle Board of Review approved candidate Evan J. Burke’s application for the rank of Eagle Scout. Evan is the son of Joseph and Christine Burke, residents of Glen Mills, PA.

Since Evan joined Troop 149 in 2010, he has accompanied us on many trips and outings and earned 27 merit badges. He held the offices of Instructor, Scribe, Guide, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. As a member of Troop 149, Evan has earned numerous awards and will continue earning his Palms.

For his Eagle service project, Evan designed and built a double-sided bulletin board for Thornbury Park in Thornbury Township, Delaware County, PA. This bulletin board, centrally located in the park, will allow for the easy dissemination of news from the Township to the park patrons regarding park rules and regulations, township activities, including emergency closings, public notices and board meetings and other news or information.

Evan is a senior at Rustin High School and an avid hockey player; he will further his education in Business Administration next year and is interested in playing hockey professionally.

We wish Evan the best of luck in all of his future endeavors, and we congratulate his parents, siblings, family and leaders who have helped him reach this milestone.

Cam_westOn September 1, 2015, Troop 149’s Eagle Board of Review approved Eagle Candidate Cameron West’s application for the rank of Eagle Scout. Cameron is the son of Robert West and Jeanine Marks. He and his parents reside in Thornton PA.

Since joining the troop in 2008, Cameron accompanied the troop in many outings, camping trips,  hikes and earned 34 Merit Badges. He earned numerous awards and held several offices, among them Guide, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Scribe and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He was called to serve in the Order of the Arrow in 2011.Cameron, for his Eagle Leadership Service Project, planned and carried out the repair of the outdoor sanctuary at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. The sanctuary had fallen victim of time and weather. The project included the cleaning, repairing and refinishing of all the benches that form the sanctuary. Also, the old mulch was removed, the ground leveled, a weed control tarp laid down and new mulch applied. The outdoor fire pit was also dug out and rebuilt over bricks.Cameron graduated from Rustin High School in June and during his years he played several sports, of which lacrosse was his favorite. Cameron was also a member of several clubs. Following his passion for Film and Photography, Cameron has enrolled for a major in film and photography for the fall semester at Delaware County Community College and then plans to move on to Temple University.We wish the best luck to Cameron in all of his future endeavors, and we congratulate his parents, siblings, family and leaders who have helped him reach this milestone.

Casey_westOn September 2, 2015, Eagle Candidate Casey West’s application for the rank of Eagle Scout was approved by the Eagle Board of Review of Troop 149. Casey is the son of Robert West and Jeanine Marks. He and his parents and siblings reside in Thornton PA.

Casey joined Troop 149 in 2008 after earning his Arrow of Light and since then has traveled extensively with the troop participating in outings, camping trips and hikes. Casey earned 33 Merit Badges, numerous awards and held several offices, including Guide, Instructor, Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He was called to serve in the Order of the Arrow in 2011.For his Eagle Leadership Service Project, Casey planned and carried out the marking of all the trails at Bonner Park in Thornbury Township. The project included mapping the trails and cutting and painting, in different colors, the triangular trail markers. Once painted, he directed the scouts to place the markers where they were mapped to be placed. Over 2 miles of trails were mapped and marked enhancing the park as a destination for the township residents.In June, Casey graduated from Rustin High School where he played lacrosse and participated in several school clubs. He is enrolled at Penn State University, Brandywine, for the fall semester of 2015 where he will pursue a higher education in Mechanical Engineering.We wish the best luck to Casey in all of his future endeavors, and we congratulate his parents, siblings, family and leaders who have helped him reach this milestone.

bernardvincentOn Monday August 17, 2015 Troop 149’s Eagle Board of Review approved Eagle Candidate Bernard Vincent Moro’s application for the rank of Eagle Scout. Vinnie is the son of Vincent Moro of Chadds Ford and Nadia Zinno of West Chester.Vincent joined Troop 149 in 2008 and during his Scouting career held the offices of Guide, Instructor, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 2011 and received numerous special awards. Vinnie is an avid sportsman and crazy about winter sports; snowboarding is his passion

For his Eagle Leadership Service project Vincent created a ‘visual’ inventory of every item in each room in the church with videos and still photographs. Vinnie directed the other scouts in all aspects of photography and videotaping. This inventory has proven invaluable for Bethlehem United Methodist Church of Glen Mills, our charter sponsor.

He graduated from Rustin High School this past June and will be attending Penn State for a business degree and eventually to Pitt for a master’s in business. At Rustin he was the goalie for his lacrosse team for four years. He was the president of the ski club, which he helped create, and received the ‘student of the year’ award twice in high Sschool. Vinnie has received several awards for helping others both in school and around his area.

Troop 149, its members and leaders wish the best luck to Vinnie in all of his future endeavors, and we congratulate him, his parents, siblings, family and adult leaders on helping him reach this milestone.

On August 10, 2015 Troop 149’s Eagle Board of Review approved Eagle Candidate Sean F. Cannon’s application for the rank of Eagle Scout. Sean is the son of Scott and Sarah Cannon, residents of Glen Mills.Sean joined the troop in 2008 and has since accompanied the troop in numerous outings and activities. Sean earned 40 merit badges and held many offices including Instructor, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. He was also a Counselor In Training at Horseshoe Scout Reservation and served as Junior Assistant Scout Master to the troop. Sean was a crew leader for Philmont Boy Scout High Adventure camp where he led a group of scouts through a difficult trek. He earned numerous awards during his scouting career and was called to the Order of the Arrow in August 2011, with his Ordeal shortly after.

His Eagle Service project involved the renovation of a historic Spring House located in Thornbury Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The project included removing the growth that through the years had accumulated, repairing roof and walls and making the building safe and stable to be admired by the residents of the township.

Sean graduated from Rustin High School in June and during his years he played several sports including football and was part of several clubs. Sean will be enrolled for the fall semester at the University of Utah where he will pursue a degree in recreational tourism.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAOn Tuesday, February 10, 2015, the Eagle Board of Review approved candidate Jonathan Scott Detwiler’s application for the rank of Eagle Scout. Jon is the son of Don and Lisa Detwiler, residents of Thornton, PA.

Since Jon joined Troop 149 in 2008, he has accompanied us on many trips and outings and earned 34 merit badges. He held the offices of Instructor, Scribe, Guide, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Quartermaster and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.  He sharpened his leadership skills at the Philmont Boy Scout High Adventure Camp, where he spent ten days hiking the mountains of New Mexico.  As a scout, Jon has earned numerous awards and was called into Order of the Arrow membership on August of 2011, followed by his Ordeal in early 2012.

For his Eagle service project, Jon designed and built a bulletin board for Bonner Park in Thornton Township. This bulletin board, located at the park’s entrance, will allow for the easy dissemination of news from the Township regarding the park, including emergency closings and the status of the different trails.

A senior at Rustin High School, Jon is also an avid lacrosse player and has been accepted at Penn State, Altoona, where he plans to major in Business Administration.

On Wednesday July 16, 2014 the Eagle Board of Review approved Eagle Candidate Michael Joseph Kreppel’s application for the Eagle Rank.

Mike joined Troop 149 in 2007 after bridging from pack 168, Saints Simon & Jude in West Chester. For his Eagle Leadership Project, Michael designed and built a bridge at Martin Park in Delaware County. This bridge located on the eastern shore of the pond will allow machinery and patrons to move around the pond without difficulty.

As a scout of Troop 149, Michael held the offices of Instructor, APL, PL, Chaplains Aide and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. In his many years with the troop, Mike earned several awards including ‘Polar Bear’ and was called to OA on August 2011. Mike enters his last year of high school at East High School and is planning on attending college in the fall of 2015 for engineering. We wish Mike good luck in all of his future endeavors and congratulate his parents, siblings and leaders on his earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Life Scout Matthew Ryan McCarrick, son of Michael and Eileen McCarrick of Glen Mills, application for the rank of Eagle Scout was reviewed and approved by the Eagle Board of Review on July 17, 2014. Matt joins his older brother Mike in the elite group of Eagle Scouts.

Matt joined the troop as an active member in 2007 but travelled with us before his bridging over from Pack 151. He is an avid basketball player and last year spent ten days hiking the mountains of New Mexico at the Philmont Boy Scout High Adventure Camp. Among Matt’s many offices held while a scout of troop 149, perhaps the most important, and challenging, one was that of Senior Patrol Leader where he demonstrated his ability as a leader. Matt earned 38 Merit Badges and in addition to being SPL he also held the offices of Instructor, Quartermaster, APL and PL. He spent 78 nights camping and logged over 130 miles hiking.

For his Leadership Project Matt designed and built several wooden benches which were located on the Palmer Arboretum, Thornton, trails to provide comfort and relief to park patrons. Matt graduated this past June from Rustin High School and will be a freshman at Temple University in the fall specializing in Engineering. Good luck Matt next year and in the future and we congratulate his parents, siblings, family and leaders upon reaching this milestone.
